Signs of spring
The herons are nest building on their platforms at Farmington Bay.
Just dropping in with a prezzie for my sweetie.
Great Blue Herons do not mate for life, though they are monogamous during the breeding season. Then I guess they shake hands, say great job with those babies, and take off.
Just a few weeks ago, there were no herons, no busy busy nesting activity, only hawks hanging out hunting from high above.
Later this big guy graced us with a photo op.
And this gorgeous guy. Prettiest red-winged blackbird at the refuge. He flew away as Scot got out of the car to photograph him. SORRY! Lots of these guys around now, just a few weeks ago there were barely any.
Spring is coming. The world still turns.
